New Solo Album from Deep of the 2 Hungry Bros now available on Cassette or CD at Bandcamp

The 2 Hungry Bros have continued to provide mcees like HomeBoy Sandman and HiPNOTT’s own P.SO the Earthtone King amongst several, with exciting soundscapes to carry their profound lyrical artistry. Now as family guys, one of the bros, Deep, is sharing a collection of beats that define his experiences in New York City’s Pre Gentrified Lower East Side. Each beat is a dedication to elements which contributed to the 2 Hungry Bros dark and brooding yet energetic and playful sound. As a long time student of theology, Deep is also addressing the term known as Objective Immortality with the albums content and cover art. This album is the soundtrack to the magic in that old hood comprised of Puerto Rican & Dominican Santeros, Chinese Mystics, Jewish Kabbalists, and more. This is the legacy Deep is leaving for his son and all lovers of Hip Hop music.

the seems aren't as they seem to be

Big Ups to 1st, growing up in what the rich would call a lower income neighborhood. A ghetto, a Hood, a barrio. Because without such an environment, I doubt I'd be able to come across or appreciate certain types of groups of people. And I'd like to say big Ups to them too. These are the individuals who may have different, interesting, or radical views but do tend to share them with the public. Thing is no matter, how much you agree or disagree with them, you must respect that they are there because they've noticed in someway or somehow, things aren't what they seem to be or what they've presented themselves to be. I respect that. Big ups to the Nation of Islam, Final Call distributors, 5 Percenters, Nuwabians, to the Israelites.

So today I present to you something that is clearly not as it seemed to be.
Peter PAN.

Does everyone know the story. He takes a young girl, Wendy to Never Never Land. They have an adventure. He's a boy that doesn't grow old apparently though he hangs out with Fairies and has pointy ears and wears a funny hat.

His name isn't Peter Pan just because it sounds FUN! it isn't Peter Pin or Peter Pun (as one is intended by making it Pan)
He's the Satyr himself, the horny goat, girl loving Pan. Maybe the Hat was Hiding the horns or the formation of the hat, made to imply the shape of the horns. The Satyr, Pan, or in Welsh traditions Cernunnos.

In the Disney Tradition he has Tinkerbell, a fairy, just like Pan in Pan's Labyrinth.

He doesn't seem so harmless and friendly anymore. Though evil didn't occur before our eyes in these movies, there was something tucked away in these movies. The way occult symbols are tucked into Cathedral art. Here's Cernunnos who was that lil' blue goat boy but as his non cartoonish self. Look, he's carrying a serpent too.

He sort of looks like Eliphas Levi's Baphomet. Eliphas said it represented the absolute. As above is below. and all that. Yet today most people associate this with the devil. Okay, fine, you may not believe that. But let's say Disney didn't believe Baphomet or Cernunnos was the devil and he wanted you to accept this as so. So why not use the story of Peter pan as a vessel for this ideology.

okay okay, i know the Scottish j.M. Barrie made Peter Pan and not Walt Disney.
but here's Barrie's image of Peter Pan

What is Love... and I'm late

Hey All before I begin.... Cop this if you haven't already.
It's a straight Hip Hop banger! Speaking of Straight, I heard Beanie's getting at Kanye's sexuality. Okay...MAD LATE BRO!

South Park is on their Job!!!

FISHSTICKS!!!

Hey everyone I apologize for totally neglecting this site and depriving you of my food reviews.
First off, the album's (NO ROOM FOR DESSERT) been out and I've been working hard to get things moving the right way.
But with this process, I've been getting around and if you already follow me on Facebook and Twitter you've enjoyed my exploits. Here's a wrap up of this summer's Great Eats

The Silver Diner switched up their menu to only serve food from local farmers and no hormone meat. So the blue plate specials are out but the food is still great. If You are a local around the DMV or just happen to be leaving Philly into Jersey through Cherry Hill, you'll be able to find a Silver Diner. I recently had their Salmon slider with the citrus side salad, it was sooo great, i couldn't wait and take a picture. Here you have my previous meal there, the turkey Dish. Really Tasty and not too salty. Their Veggie Chili is a classic!
I've been eating it since my High School Days. Now the foods all farm fresh so it's superb!

I had the pleasure of trying out this Hipster and Tourist Dive in my old hood, the Lower East Side, The Meatball Shop. I got the Pork ones because i figured everyone may have been too righteous to try them. They were great and had quite a pleasant kick. I had one of their specialty lemonades. Wowzers. it switches up everyday i think. I think mine was an apple cider Iced Tea. I went to eat their with my homegirl Likwuid. She had the Lamb balls that day. They were awesome. She also had a cucumber Iced Tea which was peculiar but very refreshing.

This one down here is from Ella's in the Lower East Side. You're looking at Veggie Lasagna and Asparagus and Onion Rings. The sides were better than the lasagna. The lasagna was cool. The service was snooty. The cashier was a herb.
This BRGR below is from BRGR. The grass fed beef was clean tasting. The burger was too small for my buck but those Onion Rings were a winner!
I got to try some Columbian Food in New Jersey, Jersey City. It was quite a feat. I shared it with ben Boogz's girlfriend. Lots of salty meat that I could do without as a grown man. The avocado was good.
Though my album is named NO ROOM FOR DESSERT, it doesn't mean that it refers to my very own stomach capacity. I tried this $4 wonder at Lavain's Bakery, downstairs on 73rd and Columbus in Manhattan.

Below is something you can only get if you're related to me.
Because my mother made it.
Eggplant Parm!!! Nuff Said.
L.E.S.!!!

This next number is called the Smoke Joint in Fort Greene in Brooklyn. I went with Janelle Renee. She took me out for my birthday this summer.
She is also on our album NO ROOM FOR DESSERT

We had the pulled pork and chopped beef. The Pork was a North Carolina Descent. All the meats were flavorable and the beef had quite a tasty bark! (Somebody donate some Atenolol please). The sides were tasty as well. Spicy fries, bbq beans, and Mac & Cheese. And since she's half Austrian she had to add the beer to quench her Singing Palate (not pictured).
below is the Phenomenon known as the International Food House on Dyckman and Bway in upper Manhattan. Dominican Food in an all you can eat buffet that's open 24/7. booyah
My AOK Clan knows bout this.
2 Hours on line for Pizza at Grimaldi's left me with a fresh taste of clean Mozzarella and Basil.
The sausage was good too with that anise enhanced licorice esque flavor. The prices for a pie are very reasonable and if you are like me, you can devour a whole one. Grimaldi's is a 2 Hour wait. So Be prepared. It's worth about an hour wait. It's worth more than waiting for a roller coaster though. This one's between Dumbo and Brooklyn Heights, close to the East River.

sooooo are you full yet????

BAck For Seconds.. finally up on my blog with food

Speaking of seconds here's something delectable I came across with my wife....

Chipotle' braised Beef Short Rib with Parmesan Grits and Glazed Carrots.
This was all part of the spectacular event called Dine In Brooklyn.
Margie and I went to Bread & Butter on Henry Street by Cranberry Street in Brooklyn Heights.
I got this with an arugula salad with Watermelon Radish, goat cheese, sliced apples, and candied walnuts.... pretty standard, no pic needed. it was really refreshing though.

This is what Margie had! Seared Catfish with Mushroom Risotto and a special wine based Tomato Sauce.
The Ribs of course were boneless and very tender. They broke apart upon touching them with the fork. The chipotle Kick complemented the creamy parmesan grits. The carrots were cool. They went well with the beef like they would in a beef stew, yet they weren't so glazed.
I tried my wife's catfish. it wasn't gummy or undercooked. The searing left the top with a nice crunch. The mushroom risotto made for an interesting texture of mushy and plump.
They gave you this with dessert as well for $25.
For Dessert we both enjoyed the Pecan, Cinnamon, and caramel baked apple!!! with whipped cream on the side. Great. I had a cappuccino to wash it down.

if you get a chance this week... take the lady or good friend out for the Dine In Brooklyn Experience before it ends this week at Bread & Butter. For more info peep the link I left you under the apples. If you miss Dine in Brooklyn, don't worry the prices are reasonable and the menu is awesome. Margie tried their fried chicken and the portions were huge and the taste travelled all the way into the bone. No Dry meat. Their fries are very thin but seasoned well, almost like onion rings on those awful Burger King Burgers. Speaking of Burgers.. they have an awesome one there. The waiter told me they grind the steak there so don't be afraid to get it medium because it come from one cow. I saw the burger it was huge. I'm gong Back for Seconds and I'm getting that next. See YOU THIN!!!

Sputnik makes a Nice Satellite to Eat

Sunday afternoon, on 1 of my favorite walks, down Myrtle Avenue, on the way to Bushwick, I passed Taffe! My peers Brokn Englsh, Deal the Villain, Janelle Bechdol, and 8thw1 had, on different occasions, recommended I try an Ostrich or Elk Burger from Sputnik.  Sputnik is largely a performance space (in the Basement) which will be featuring prominent Hip Hop Artists Talib Kweli and Primo, with my peoples Red Clay opening on September 5th. It's located on Taffe Place between Willoughby and Dekalb Ave.
Upstairs they serve some comfort foods and drinks as well as soft beverages. The vibe was chill with books by the window and flatscreens by the bar, quite the dichotomy.  On Sundays they play movies in the evenings. I was fortunate enough to catch Akira Kurosawa's YOJIMBO.

What was unfortunate though, Elk and Ostrich were discontinued on the menu. What was left? The average burger fare, Turkey, Beef, Veggie and Bison. They discontinued Elk and Ostrich meat 3 weeks ago. That's what I get for procrastinating. I just had a coke... Review over.

Okay, not really. I asked the friendly bartender, Ryan, what the drill was? He said the Guacamole' Burger was a top seller. He also told me that all the meat was organic and that they had switched to an 8 oz. patty over the 5 oz. So Bison it was. Just to be risky and for full gusto, medium. Ryan asked if I wanted fries or onion rings. He recommended onion rings, so that's what I got.
Check out the burger. It was pretty heavy duty. No knots in the meat like a Public School or McDonald's Angus burger. It wasn't greasy. The center was pink but not bloody.  The meat wasn't flavored so much and it just provided mass rather than gusto.  The red onions on top actually lent the most flavor to the whole experience. So what's the problemo? Where's the GUACAMOLE'???

There it is!
It didn't add to the burger really. It was just squashed avocados. The Guacamole' provided no extra kick. I was a fan of the onion rings. I was happy but confused as to why they gave me BBQ sauce with the onion rings because it actually went on my burger. The onion rings were fluffy and the onions in the middle were soft and flavorful. The dough on the onion rings wasn't that greasy.  The batter wasn't a filler but a contributor to the taste.
I wish I had ordered the Spicy Burgers which had jalapenos instead.
Overall I was pleased with the ambience and vibe of the place which made eating there worth the price. All of my food Bison Burger, Coke, and Onion Rings came out to $16. Of course I gave Ryan the last $4. Always tip!
(Even a crappy tip to reflect crappy service which was definitely not the case at Sputnik).

here's the Rating.
